The Interviewer Will See You Now… and It’s AI.

Companies are no longer just using AI to write job descriptions or scan resumes. They’re now using AI to conduct the actual interviews.

In a Reddit post from November 2024, a candidate shared their experience of going through a first-round interview completely led by AI. No recruiter. No hiring manager. Just an automated voice asking questions—and judging the answers.

Commenters were shocked. Not because AI was involved (that part’s expected in 2025), but because there was zero human interaction. Yet, candidates were still expected to “show up as their authentic selves.” Make it make sense.

On the flip side, some companies are being transparent and thoughtful about their use of AI. They’ve created clear AI interview policies—allowing candidates to:

  • Use AI to generate resumes or cover letters,

  • Leverage AI in technical interviews to whiteboard or solve coding problems—as long as they can explain the logic behind it.

But there are limits. When it comes to interview questions that require originality, many companies draw a hard line. If a candidate is suspected of reading AI-generated responses word-for-word, they may be disqualified.

Apparently, companies want the benefits of AI and the magic of human connection. Selectively. Conveniently.

And if a man can fall in love with an AI chatbot (yes, really), maybe the "perfect" employee can be custom-coded too?

💬 Lets Talk:

How has AI shown up in your job search—or your hiring process?

Are we evolving… or erasing the human touch?
